    From Bike Mojo:

    bike mojo

It's official folks, mark your calendars!

Special thanks to Jimmy & Terri Dreiss for providing a great venue not to mention a significant Mojo discount for a full weekend of camping. $10/family for the whole weekend Friday morning to Monday morning. Singles will be $6 for the same weekend.

    When: Columbus weekend October 9,10,11,12

Where: Flat Rock Ranch, Comfort, TX

What: 1st (possibly annual) Bike Mojo Family weekend @ FRR

Why: it's a great opportunity for our cycling significant other(s) to meet & greet while the sprockets play in the dirt, ride bikes and throw rocks at each other.

This is a family focused weekend, but not limited to just families. Bring your girlfriend or boyfriend for a weekend of riding, hiking, and camping.

For the parents, the idea is to have at least two rides per day. Dad rides while Mom hangs with the kiddo and vice versa.

For the kiddo's there's a ten and under trail 2 miles long and the "no sweat family loop" which is 4.5 miles. Maybe a moon bounce, I think Ed is handling this.

W can watch the bat flight at the old rail road tunnel 13 miles away in the evening.

For the Wives/Hubbies that don't ride:

There's a new park on the Guadalupe river close by. There are also three wineries in the area.

Food & Spirits: So far it's BYOF/B. I kind of thought Saturday night might be a good Pot Luck night (Burgers, Dogs, grill type food).

Plenty of port-a-poties & showers for the whole family.

Breaking news a possible Keg sponsor for Saturday night.  Will need a tap.

    2009 UT MTB Weekend
    September 26 and 27
    Flat Rock Ranch, Comfort Texas

UT Austin is hosting a college Mountain bike race September 26 and 27

On Saturday 9-26 the upper loop will be closed till after 1:00 pm for a college time trial.  The lower loop will be open Saturday till 3:00 pm.  After 3:00 the lower loop will be closed for a college short track.

On Sunday 9-27 the upper and lower loops will be closed in the morning for a cross country college race.  They will both reopen around 1:00 pm Sunday afternoon pending last racer off the course.

    Memorial Day Weekend Gut-n-Glory
    May 22-25, 2009

This is the 7th year (8th year in time) for this fun and inexpensive grassroots event. The 12 hour 'Ride' will be held SUNDAY MAY 24th 8:00 am - 8:00 pm. We'll also have one of our famous Rubber Chicken Roundups on Saturday, May 23rd 10am with a wiener roast afterward.

It's $15 per person over 12 years for the whole weekend. Fee includes 3 nights camping, land-use, and participation in all events. The weekend starts Friday afternoon and ends Monday afternoon. $10 per person for Sunday only.

We'll have a cash payout for the top solo male rider and top solo female rider in the 12 hour event, with a raffle for everyone else.

This event is designed to offer something for everyone. Folks interested in strong competition come out and ride for 12 hours on a 26+ mile course that's one of the most challenging endurance courses you'll find. We could not bear to cut out sections of the course to make a shorter single loop, so we will do the whole 26 mile enchilada, but we will count separate loops, Lower and then Upper. Folks not so interested in competition can come out, enjoy the trail at their own pace and spend the rest of the time enjoying the camping and beer. This is a very family friendly event - all ages are welcome.

2nd Annual Sanctioned Rubber Chicken Round-Up Ride
    Sunday October 19, 2008 9am

    rubber chicken

We will be placing nine rubber chickens at strategic locations around the ranch.  Each rubber chicken will be numbered from 1 to 9 representing cash or swag.  Ride starts at 9:00 am. Only one chicken prize will be given per winner.  If you find more than one, you better have a buddy to give it to! No preference will be given to direction of ride or which loop.  If your strategy is to find a chicken, anything goes.  Ride the lower loop forward or backwards. If you have the knowledge, ride a jeep road to the middle and pick up the trail there.  The fastest riders may not be the ones to find a chicken, or then again maybe they will!

Breaking news!! There will be two additional rubber chickens - No. 10 and No. 11.  These chickens will have GPS Lat/Long coordinates.  Bring your GPS device to find them as they will be well hidden.   Coordinates will be given before the ride starts.

No early bird starts before 9:00 am.  To be eligible to win, you  must obtain a wristband between 8:00 am and the start time.  This ride will cost the usual land access fee of $6/rider over 12. Ranch management reserves to right to sneak an additional chicken out after the ride starts.  Prizes will be in the $25+ range.

We plan to have hot dogs and drinks from 12 to 2.  We will give the awards to chicken catchers at 12:00 pm.

    Yeti Demo with Anthony Sloan
    Saturday October 18th, 2008 9am - 2pm

Anthony Sloan with the Yeti Cycles Demo Program will be at Flat Rock Ranch Saturday October 18th from 9-2.  He will have a variety of bikes to ride, AS-R and AS-R Carbons for the XC crowd. 575s for the All Mountain/Trail market and our new AS-R 7 as well, which is a 7" travel all mountain bike. And he'll have the new downhill bike on board as well.

Remember the 2nd Annual Sanctioned Rubber Chicken Roundup Ride will be the next day, Sunday October 19th.  This may be the last good weekend to camp at the ranch.  Also, there is no burn ban in effect.
